My Recruiting secret sauce for Avon

First you need to know how exhilarating it is to meet new people and make new friends. Think about that instead of "recruiting". Know in your heart that these actions and goals set forth can and will change lives for the better.
Script for Make Over - new lead -
Hi Sandy, this is Karen.
I am a unit leader with Avon here in (her area) the Mesa area. I just got a message that you are looking for a home based business. I raised 5 kids as an Avon Rep so Avon will work for you too! I am so excited to meet you! I get to be the one who does your training, which will only take about an hour of your time. Oh' by the way, I will need your hair color and eye color so that when I bring your free make over kit, I have the perfect colors for you! Please call or text me your availability. 480-262-3525 - Oh before I forget - When you call me, tell me at least one of your favorite Avon products. I will check to see that I have it in stock. I'll put it in your special kit I made just for you..


Psychological phrasing - never say If you are interested - If means you don't expect them to call. Use WHEN YOU CALL..... WHEN YOU TEXT ME... I used this in raising kids too - When you clean your room you get to.....

mini makeover kit of lots of samples- they have to call you to give you their hair and eye color..
Hook = free product - this is cheap and worth the gas and time to bring it if they are going to sign..
I was giving out those black make up bags with travel samples and mascara, eye liner, eye shadow samples, blush samples, cleanser samples from Mark, and a real lipstick. I still give out the samples, However, now I save the make up bag or something special for when they place their first order on time and pay it ontime. Tell them that this can be theirs the day they submit their first order of 100.00 or more..because with anyone, when they earn it, they appreciate it more.

As always, with Avon - the fourth quarter is the most exciting.  You are performing such a a service to your community - you should really push the fact that Avon keeps you from fighting mall traffic and going out in the weather. I have one lady who does not have a car and also has been doing all her Christmas Shopping with me and she spends 200.00 every campaign.  She is so grateful for Avon.

Campaign 24 was our highest unit sales ever!  Our Unit did 5,834 in sales!  We had 12 Reps over 150.00 per order!  Congratulations to you all!
You are all winners because the money you make selling Avon will make your dreams come true!

Placing a first order with Avon - what is my 1st priority?

Sometimes the initial interview may be a little overwhelming.  I encourage my reps to take notes and the ones who do are able to set their goals and timetables in their lives to make Avon so easy!  But let's say, for example, that you need a refresher.
1) Your first job is to input as many names into your WEBOFFICE address book as possible.  Those names need phone numbers and email addresses - at the very least.  The more information you put, the more professional your invoice will look when you clip it to their bag on delivery day.
2) Deliver books by hand - not frisbee to driveways.  Please listen to your Unit Leader on this very carefully, as it impacts your ability to connect with customers. 
     a) Identify your customer and compliment her on her hair, jewelry, clothes or bag - whichever you honestly love.
     b)  After she identifies your compliment, and smiles, ask her, "Did you  know that Avon does jewelry, clothes or bag/shoes (whichever you complimented)?
     c)  Ask if "Would you allow me to give you a free sample and new catalog?"
     d)  Tell her you would love to give her free samples of anything that interests her.  You then ask for her email and/or phone number, "In the event that you have any questions about the products, I would love the opportunity to follow up with you."
      e)  Your goal here is not to get the order, but to connect.  If she does ask when the order is due tell her:  "I need the orders by _______(two days before you submit the order). 
      f)   Follow up - the fortune is in the follow up.
      g)  Let her know when the delivery day is - thank her for her order and ask her what samples she would like to see in her bag.

Did you used to sunbathe with mayonaise, butter or cooking oil?

We must have been out of our minds......When we were kids, ok, when I was a kid, there was no such thing as sunscreen.  Ok I am lying.  There was 2 kinds of sunscreen, but I wouldn't be caught dead using either one.  One was called Uval - it was extremely bitter and you felt poisoned if you got it on your lips.  First they would turn numb, and the taste, I am sure, was close to hemlock.  Now, Lifeguards were cool, but they were the only ones who could get away with using white zinc oxide on their noses.  Did it work?  Oh yeah.  Would we use it?  Heck no.  It was not cool.  In 1964, Coppertone came out with a self-tanning formula that didn't protect you from the sun, but heck, until you went to bed and it turned your sheets bright yellow, you could delude yourself into thinking that you had a cool tan.



So as you can guess, I have already had many, many spots cut off which turned to Basal Cell Carcinoma because I didn't obey my mother.  Why am I telling you this?  Because, I showed the new Avon Skinvincible to my Dermatologist and her eyes bulged out of her head when she saw that the moisture lotion has 50 SPF.  She said it was the answer to many peoples problems to find the perfect protection against, smoke, temperatures, sun and pollution.  I agree!

I heartily endorse this product.  It feels good on, it does the job, and has released me from the poorly thought out weight loss therapy called "cut the bad skin off".   All kidding aside, Avon's new Skinvincible has both the night cream with alpha hydroxy acid, which sloughs off the dead skin cells and hydrates the skin, then after washing my face in the morning, I first treat with ANEW Absolute even, which evens out dark patches and dark circles under the eyes to create a pallete of clean, clear skin.  Next I protect my face by using 3 tiny squirts of Skinvincible and cover my face.  It sinks in very quickly and disappears on the skin.  It protects me from smoke pollution, auto and airplae pollution, the 118 head we get here in Scottsdale, and finally, it is a welcome relief to finally have a terrific SUNSCREEN which blocks sun and UV rays.

Using technology to launch your Career with Avon

It's important that you follow the basics to attract and keep customers and utilizing every available avenue in this effort is your goal.  Specifically, you want to utilize sites that pay you instead of you paying them.  Google + analytics will allow you to create ads that will go on other national websites, because as my favorite phrase states, "This isn't your Grandma's Avon any more!"  Gone are the days where you can only sell to certain people on your street or cul-d-sac and only one representative per area. 

With the onslaught of technology and analytical capabilities to show you exactly who is looking at your site, this allows you to target your ads and features to your audience.  If they say you have mostly women, 50 or older - make sure you are featuring ANEW Platinum on your site.  If the report states that you have mostly women 18-24 - definitely feature the Mega Effects or Mark products.  I also like how the little ad they let me create to go on other people's pages not only leads to my site, but I can also send it right to my recruiting page, labeled OPPORTUNITY, with my specific code embedded.  Additionally, I can tell them that I do not want my ads appearing on any other Avon sites, to funnel them towards my coded page instead of clicking away onto the corporate page or competitor sites being allowed to put their ad on my site. Below, at the bottom of the page,  I have created an ad for me and at the same time, when I post the code to my site, my ad is being broadcast on another site. If someone clicks on another users ad on my page, I get paid. You could get paid too, doing  the same thing.

Avon does not allow anyone to change their keywords or met tags to boost their advantage, which integrally makes us richly favored by Google.  Avon also has a special page on the Web Editor which allows you to input your specific Gmail code so that when each page of your site, has the Google code, will boost you higher in the rankings, keeping you on the front page of the search engines when your zipcode and the word AVON is searched.

When you find the link on How to market your Avon career, RIGHT CLICK on the link, then SAVE TARGET AS - name the file - save it to your DESKTOP.  It is quite large and will take about 7 minutes to download so put your feet up and have your notepad ready.  The blessing of doing this in a powerpoint movie is that you can stop it, pause it and go back if you need to see it again.

Back order Blues? Look at it from a different perspective!

How do you deal with customers in a positive way who ordered something that is on eternal backorder or discontinued?        

Up front, when they see the Outlet, I tell them - "This catalog is the most exciting of all.  This is the most popular catalog with Reps because they get 40% off the first 4 orders and to get 40% off something that is 5.00 which used to be 20.00 is exhilarating.  However, it's a gamble so we go into it with that attitude - we may win, we may lose, but we obviously have great taste because we have picked something that is extremely popular from our phase out catalog, Outlet."

  Not once, in all the years, (1980s) have I had a disappointed customer.  We celebrate when we get something and we try again on the next order when its boub or boub disc (back order unbilled or back order unbilled discontinued.  The key there is that we were not charged for it.  I tell my Reps to think positively - when you attack a problem with positive energy, you come out a winner with a new point of view.  

So remember, never grovel, blame Avon, blame the warehouse, when this happens.  You come off much more the champion sales person when you praise the customer for their excellent taste in products - style and color.
